Jean Malaurie passed away at the age of 101 years, on February 5, 2024, at his home in Dieppe, France. Professor Malaurie found fame as the author of The Last Kings of Thule and the founder of the prestigious “Terre Humaine” book series. Jean Malaurie’s The Last Kings of Thule recounted his experiences in Northwest Greenland in the early 1950s and made him a preeminent arctic scholar. He became a defender of the rights of arctic minorities in many parts of the circumpolar world.

Programme:

  • screening of the documentary “Tasiurta”
  • concert with Electronica artist CØLIBRI

Tasiurta (Tasiurta, Donnons-nous la main)

Directed by Julien Granet and Jérôme Rotier aka CØLIBRI, produced by Film50mm. With the support of the Institut français and the city of Nantes

In English with French subtitles

Kuujjuaq is a village of 3,000 Inuit located in northern Quebec. The heavy colonial past and the abandonment of public authorities has generated multiple social and environmental problems. Driven by a desire to give voice to the Inuit, the artists Cølibri and Julien Granet imagined Tasiurta. A documentary retracing their travels to meet the women and men of the village, with the common thread: music.

CØLIBRI | Live | Electronica
CØLIBRI’s electronica is in the image of its totem animal: delicate, all finesse and hyperactive. This composer from Nantes gracefully handles the art of just melody and exuberant arrangements, bridging the gap between electronic dreaminess and classical lyricism.

Please note that latecomers will not be admitted for the performance.
