Since the age of seven, Mujie Yan's musical journey travelled from northwestern China to Central Europe, now finishing her last year of master's degree in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, under the tutelage of Aaron Shorr and Sinae Lee for piano. She began her harpsichord studies with lecturer Ágnes Rátko from the Liszt Academy in Budapest in 2018 and continued this study at RCS under Jan Waterfield. Recently, she had her orchestral debut with a Baroque chamber orchestra under the baton of David Watkin, performing St. John Passion in 2023 at the Glasgow Cathedral. Mujie was also selected to attend the St. Andrews Summer Baroque Course in the summer of 2024, performing solo, chamber, and orchestral works such as Toccata Settima by M. Rossi, Three Parts Upon the Ground by Purcell and Concerto No. 4 by Richard Mudge. During this course, she also participated in masterclasses with renowned harpsichordist, organist, and conductor Laurence Cummings OBE. She is experienced in orchestral and chamber works as a continuo player, and in solo playing, accumulating a wide range of repertoire from Early Music and Baroque period to twentieth century works such as those by Bohuslav Martinů. In November 2024, she will join the RCS Chamber Orchestra performing J.S. Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major, BWV1068.
