Europe Day – European Comedy Short Films screening – SOLD OUT!
Fri 8 May at 7pmJoin us to celebrate Europe Day exploring humour from different European countries! The event will feature a selection of comedy short films from Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain and France.
This event is organized in partnership with German Consulate General in Edinburgh and the Goethe Institut, Consulate General of Ireland in Edinburgh, Consulate General of Italy in Edinburgh and Italian Institute of Culture, Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh, Consulate General of Romania in Edinburgh and Romanian Cultural Institute, Consulate of Spain in Edinburgh and Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival.

Spain: Democracia by Borja Cobeaga (11min)
In this 2013 short film, screenwriter and director Borja Cobeaga explores in fictional form how to put the concept of democracy into practice in a highly competitive and savage workplace where the most extreme situations are reached, with a script that, in light of today’s world, is disturbingly visionary and taboo.

Romania: Zimnicea by Bogdan Naumovici (16min)
This is the true story of what happened in Zimnicea, Romania, on 4th March 1977, the day of the great earthquake. Everybody knew that 80% of the city was destroyed that day, and they kept knowing that for more than 35 years. It was only in 2012 that the truth emerged, that it was Communism and not the earthquake that brought Zimnicea down.
