Groupe de lecture “Le Nageur” de Pierre Assouline

Once a month, the reading group meets up to discuss a couple of books selected in advance (from classical to contemporary French literature) and discovers other members’ views on them. Meetings take place at the Institut français d’Écosse, usually on the last Tuesday of the month.

About the book :

Author and journalist, Pierre Assouline, follows the breathtaking journey and incredible resilience of Olympic swimmer Alfred Nakache, in this biography, Le Nageur (2023). Between his appearances at the Berlin 1936 Olympics and London 1948, Nakashe remarkably survived Auschwitz and a death march from Auschwitz to Buchenwald, thanks to an extraordinary will and athletic constitution.
