Books & Ideas

Once a month, the reading group meets up to discuss a couple of books selected in advance (from classical to contemporary French literature) and discovers other members’ views on them. Meetings are taking place at the Institut français d’Écosse, usually on the last Tuesday of the month.

About the book :

In 2022 Brigitte Giraud won France’s most prestigious literary award, The Goncourt, for Vivre Vite, an autobiographical novel about the death of her husband. Vivre Vite is a short autobiographical story in which Giraud recounts the chain of events leading to the death of her husband Claude in a motorbike accident in 1999, leaving her with a young son and a recently signed contract to buy a new family home.
