XEDER is a Franco-Iranian photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Most of his work focuses on still-life compositions. He has held three solo exhibitions in Paris and participated in collective exhibitions in Sydney and Edinburgh.

North of the Soul is a photographic series based on compositions involving human body and natural elements. The photos which were taken during the past four years explore diverse questions in relation to migration, hybridity of identity and humans’ relation to nature.

In this exhibition XEDER puts his photographic work in dialog with poems from a Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish and the Egyptian surrealist poet, Joyce Mansour. The poems speak broadly to the forces that run through these photos.

Opening ceremony on Friday 4 October from 5.30pm to 9.30pm

Artist talk on Friday 11 October at 5pm, followed by a special candlelight viewing at 6pm.
