Echos cartographiés : learn how to record sound and create your own sound map

Are you ready to explore the soundscape of Edinburgh?

Led by sound artist Boris Allenou, this workshop invites you to engage in a deep and attentive exploration of your local sound environment. Sound mapping involves recording the unique sounds of a place and positioning them on an interactive digital map. The goal of this workshop is to capture and analyse the acoustic landscape in and around the Institut français d’Écosse, drawing attention to often-overlooked sonic details in our daily lives. Through this exercise, you will develop a new awareness of your surroundings and redefine your perception of space through sound.

Originally from Paris, France, Boris Allenou is an independent sound artist based in the UK. As an electronic musician, he has collaborated, improvised, composed, built and performed with a wide range of musicians, filmmakers and artists in South Korea, Europe, South and North America and the United Kingdom. Today, he explores the unlimited forms of sound art and sound ecology. His research questions the social role of sound-ecosystems.
